About this experience

From Christiania Torv, we enter the 700-year-old Akershus Fortress, which offers Oslo’s most iconic view of the fjord. Afterward, we take the tram to Vigeland Sculpture Park, home to the 17-meter-tall Monolith. The tour concludes after a walk through the park.

At Christiania Torv, we travel back in time—specifically to 1624, when the Danish-Norwegian King Christian IV pointed to the ground and declared: "Here the city shall stand!" You will hear the story of the Renaissance city before the tour continues to Akershus Fortress. Here, you will learn how the fortress—originally built as a royal residence in the Middle Ages—was transformed into a Renaissance castle surrounded by bastion fortifications. After a short tram ride to the Frogner Park, the tour proceeds to Oslo’s most visited park; Vigeland Sculpture Park, where it concludes with a guided walk through the park.
