At the meeting point the "Hansken" at Christiania Torv we go back in time to the year 1624 when the Danish Norwegian King, Christian IV, pointed to the ground and said: "here the city should be!" You will hear the story about the renaissance city, Christiania, before we continue into the Fortress to explore how Akershus, originally built as a medieval royal castle, was rebuilt into a Renaissance castle surrounded by a bastion fortress. From the fortress, the tour continues to the idyllic island landscape of Hovedøya with its monastery ruins and beautiful beaches. We then return to Aker Brygge, where the tour ends.
