About this experience
This walk combines food, history and one of Stockholm’s most remarkable museums. On Royal Djurgården we move through a landscape shaped by royal traditions, maritime history and everyday Swedish culture, with carefully selected tastings along the way and a guided visit inside the Vasa Museum.
We begin on Royal Djurgården, an island that for centuries served as a royal park and today is one of Stockholm’s most loved green spaces. Walking at a relaxed pace, we explore how this area changed from hunting grounds and naval activity into a cultural landscape open to everyone. Along the route we pause for small culinary tastings inspired by Swedish traditions. These are not formal meals, but thoughtful stops that reflect local flavours and food culture. A central highlight of the tour is a guided visit inside the Vasa Museum, where we encounter the 17th-century warship Vasa — a powerful introduction to Sweden’s time as a Baltic power, as well as to the craftsmanship and ambitions of the era. We continue through Djurgården’s historic environments, passing shipyards, waterfront paths and museum surroundings, while discussing how Stockholm’s relationship to water, trade and nature shaped the city. The tour ends near Djurgårdsvarvet, where past and present Stockholm meet.
